15 Aug St Mark’s students celebrate excellent A-level results
Staff and students at St Mark’s Church of England Academy in Mitcham, part of Anthem Schools Trust, are celebrating a fantastic set of A-level results.
The proportion of A Levels awarded at A* or A grades have risen to 38%, marking a significant 14% increase from 2023 outcomes. Similarly, the percentage of students attaining an A*-B grade is up 8% at 68%. This is an exceptional achievement for students and staff and will open doors to life changing opportunities.
Students studying BTech subjects have performed equally well with 55% achieving a Distinction or Distinction* and 88% achieving Distinction*-Merit. 100% of pupils have passed. The average grade for a BTech has remained at a Distinction.
Students at St Mark’s, which has just been rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted, join teenagers across the country who are getting their results after sitting exams throughout May and June.
Among the high performers:
Sophia Yung achieved an A*grade in Maths, Biology and Chemistry and an A grade in A Level Chinese. Sofia joined the school from China in Year 11 as an in-year admission. Her hard work and determination has resulted in an exceptional set of results. Sophia will be going on to study Pharmaceuticals. Having excelled, Sophia is now going through clearing to secure an undergraduate place at a Russell Group university.
Maria Elniwihi has been awarded an A*grade in Psychology and A grades in A Level Maths and History. Following a rigorous recruitment process and strong competition, Maria was successful in her application to take up an apprenticeship in banking compliance.
Ikram Dehiles has attained three A grades in A level English Literature, Psychology and Sociology. Ikram is taking a gap year before applying to a Russell Group university.
Lania Norman has secured three A grades in A level Biology, Psychology and Maths. She will be studying Biotechnology at Manchester University this September.
Ozan Bozan has been awarded a Distinction* in ICT BTech, a Distinction in Business BTech and an A grade in A Level Maths. Ozan has made incredible in-year progress and prepares to start his undergraduate degree in Software Development at Surrey University.

“Their commitment to academic excellence and a determination to excel has resulted in some wonderful results and I hope they feel very proud of themselves.
“These results are justice for the endless hard work put in by every member of the St Mark’s family and every young person in Year 13 – these students were a pleasure to serve.
“Despite everything that our students and staff have faced, they have overcome these challenges and their futures remain as bright as ever.
“They are now going on to embrace university study or have secured apprenticeships or full time employment.
“We would like to wish our students great success in the future, and hope they all go on to fulfil their aspirations, taking their next step on their journey to excellence.”
