18 Apr Speedy Freight announces partnership with Earth Restoration Service
This week, national same day courier service Speedy Freight has announced a partnership with Earth Restoration Service to support local schools and communities.
The partnership aims to help achieve Earth Restoration’s goal to plant 50,000 trees and enough flowers to attract over 20 million insects across 1,000 sites nationwide.
In conjunction with Earth Restoration Service, Speedy Freight will support each school in getting ready for the planting event, arrange the transport of trees and provide educational materials and planting guides so pupils and teachers are best equipped for the task ahead.
Following the announcement, Speedy Freight clients are now entitled to nominate their local schools to receive the tree planting support, with kits delivered to schools from June this year.
Should schools choose the wildflower meadow option, ‘flutter flowers’, children will be able to plant the wildflowers from June. Should the tree nursery option be chosen, or a mix of both, the tree planting events will be held between November 2023 and March 2024.
Shaun Sidley, HSQE Manager at Speedy Freight, said: “We are so excited to be partnering with Earth Restoration Service. This initiative does so much for local communities across the UK and we’re looking forward to help make a difference nationwide.
“Since the 1930s, more than half of the UK’s ancient woodland has been destroyed, leading to many wildlife species becoming endangered and the risk of extinction looming large. As such, partnering with Earth Restoration Service gives Speedy Freight the chance to give back to communities and help preserve our planet.
“What’s more, the initiative allows Speedy Freight to help children at schools throughout the country learn more about the environment, thus giving the next generation the chance to get outside and get involved”.
The initiative is one step closer to Speedy Freight’s goal of being a carbon neutral business by June this year, by offsetting scope one and scope two emissions via the organisation Carbon Neutral Britain.
Over 30 schools across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will benefit from this scheme.
