Specsavers Reveals the Hottest Eyewear Trends of 2024

22 Jan Specsavers Reveals the Hottest Eyewear Trends of 2024

The new year is set to bring a new wave of trends sure to dominate the runways and high street. To help style enthusiasts elevate their look and dial up their ‘frame game’ in 2024, Specsavers, in partnership with Fashion Editor Alex Stedman, has revealed its eyewear trends of the year.

One of the top eyewear trends to watch out for this year is Geometrics, evolving to be more experimental with bold shapes; incorporating more angles combined with softer lines in the same style of frame.

Bianca Swan, Style Editor at Specsavers said “Whether you are looking to refresh your personal style or completely mix it up, there can be a lot of pressure to pick the perfect pair of glasses. But with Specsavers’ latest eyewear trends such as Geometrics there’s also a lot of opportunity – with a wide range of designers and Specsavers own-brand frames offering something for everyone.”

Also commenting on her vision for eyewear style this year, Alex Stedman, Digital Creator and Fashion Editor commented: “Glasses are not only a stylish accessory (with the added bonus of helping my vision!), I love that they can reflect my personality, too.

My trend prediction for 2024 is towards geometric shapes, particularly in lightweight metals – I have been wearing the ‘Alvar’ (a more structured take on the aviator style) and they are so easy to wear. Look for hexagonal frame shapes or for a bolder take, we will be seeing lots more interpreted into chunky acetate frames, too.”

Other eyewear trends to experiment with this year include Dopamine Brights, Chunky Acetates and Subversive 60s and 70s looks.

Playful trends such as Dopamine Brights will continue to emerge, as fashion becomes increasingly more colourful and search volumes for dopamine dressing rise year-on-year. Expect to see bright yellows, fiery reds, cobalt blues, luminous greens and pink pops.

Acetates are also taking on a fresh look with chunky bold styles for 2024, as Brits’ desire for statement, thick frame glasses increases. The Chunky Acetate trend works for both bold colours and more neutral tones, resulting in a wide variety of inclusive frames that can be a simple yet a statement piece all at the same time.

Alex commented: There has been a real shift towards bolder styles lately which I am loving – from dopamine brights to chunky acetates (I love the Viktor&Rolf range for this trend), your glasses can make a statement to suit your lifestyle, or even just your outfit.”
Brits’ love of brave and bold vintage styles can be accredited to the dramatic rise in demand for Subversive 60’s and 70’s, as this positive trajectory continues into 2024. While 2023 saw the revival of modern Y2K style and rise of bug eye frames of the 80s, this year you’ll recognise this vintage touch through big yet very soft and smooth shapes, primarily in acetates.
For the classic style seekers among us, you’ll be pleased to hear that classic frames are not going anyway any time soon. Cat Eye and Supersized Frames remain popular, each with their own updated twist for the year ahead.
Whether you are trying the hottest new Geometrics trend, experimenting with colourful Chunky Acetates or sticking with an elevated classic Cat Eye frame, Specsavers glasses and sunglasses collections are here to help. Made up of frames from top designer brands, Specsavers own styles and classic shapes start from as little as £15, helping every customer feel confident in finding the right style of glasses to suit them and dial up their frame game for 2024.
