31 Aug Southend Hospital Radio enlist Two 11-year-old budding radio DJs to hit the airwaves
Southend Hospital Radio, you might just think is something for adults, not so. Two 11-year-old budding radio DJs have been taking to the airwaves at Southend Hospital to help keep kids occupied and entertained whilst they are on Neptune Children’s Ward.
The weekly radio show, which has been on air since February, runs for an hour every Saturday at 2pm and is then repeated the following Wednesday at 3pm. It’s bursting with jokes, brain-teasers and songs chosen by presenters and best friends Kara Newman and Kathryn Sipple, both from Southend.
The budding Sara Cox and Zoe Ball said: “We know it can be scary being in hospital, and we try to make listeners laugh with our cheesy jokes, and to get them thinking with our logic puzzles.
“We hope that the younger patients and their relatives on Neptune Ward enjoy our special hour of music and fun!”
