22 May South Essex College’s charity football match raises funds for local hospital
South Essex College held a charity football match at Roots Hall to raise more than £650 for Southend Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.
The event saw both current and former students and members of staff take to the pitch at Southend United’s ground for a full-length 90 minute match.
The event was organised by Level 3 Business students Ben Piper, Alex Drewer and Conor Henry as part of one of their course modules.
Supporters took to the stands to cheer on the competitors throughout the match, which saw the team comprising of staff and former students come out victorious 11-3.
Business Lecturer Steve Newman, who helped support the students with the event, said the match was a huge success.
He said: “It was great to see everyone come together and enjoy themselves while supporting this worthy cause. It was also great to see some of our former students again to hear about what they are up to now. It was also a perfect opportunity for our current students to hear their success stories and get inspired for their future.”
