25 Jan South Essex College students raise funds for Southend Hospital
Students at South Essex College have been busy raising money for Southend Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit.
The Level 3 Business students arranged a series of events and raised a total of £1,177 for the unit.
Daniel Pinder, 17, from Southend, organised a bake sale at the College’s Southend Campus as part of the fundraising activities.
He said: “The event went really well. After many planning lessons with our lecturer, when the day of the event came along we were well prepared and had the mind-set to raise as much money as possible.
“I would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Sainsbury’s who donated cakes and donuts for the bake sale, this helped massively and enabled us to raise lots of funds for the unit.”
Another group of students held a fine dining charity night in Waves, the College’s restaurant.
Sales from the tickets went to the fund. The menu includes dishes such as seabass, slow cooked belly of pork, pot roast partridge and a selection of desserts.
