SIMPLY DONATES SLEEPERS TO QUILTERS JUNIOR SCHOOL’S MEMORIAL GARDEN

03 Dec SIMPLY DONATES SLEEPERS TO QUILTERS JUNIOR SCHOOL’S MEMORIAL GARDEN

Rainham-based Simply, a leading supplier of portable toilets, towable welfare units and waste management services across London, Essex and the South East, has donated sleepers to Quilters Junior School’s memorial garden in Billericay.

In 2013, Sarah, the sister of Simply’s Managing Director, Ruth Israel, sadly passed away from Thrombosis. Sarah was a teacher at Quilters Junior School, affectionately known as the ‘Miss Honey’ of the school for her warm and nurturing personality. In memory of Sarah, the school community came together to create Sarah’s Garden and Ruth, her husband and Co-Director Paul, and the Simply team have supported the garden ever since it was created, often visiting and undertaking fundraising activities including John Baron MP’s Annual Fun Walk. Sarah’s Garden is an outdoor memorial space for the children and staff to remember Sarah and connect with nature.

Sarah’s Garden is a space where children and staff can spend more time outdoors, benefiting mental health, whilst also learning gardening skills and how to cultivate plants and vegetables, which are then re-used within the school’s kitchen. The new sleepers will ensure that raised beds can be created and more space within the garden can be used as an outdoor classroom.

The Head Teacher at Quilters Junior School, Michael Wade, said: “We are so grateful for Simply’s donation towards the renovations that we need to do. Sarah’s Garden is a space that makes a huge difference to the children and with Simply’s help, we are able to continue to develop it so that the pupils always have a place to find sanctuary. Sarah was such a well-loved teacher and member of our team and we are so pleased to be able to honour her in this way!”

Ruth Israel comments: “We are so proud to be able to continue to support Quilters Junior School through donating the sleepers. Whenever we visit the garden, we are always so amazed to see the love and care that the children put into this.

“I know that my sister would be so proud of what has been created in her memory and would love to see the creativity that it brings out in the pupils. The garden has become a space where the children can not only cultivate the produce, but their own little personalities too.”

Simply is passionate about supporting the local community, whether that is through sponsoring the local football teams or providing its services to charitable events.
