11 Dec Silver End Library is to re-open in its new home
Silver End Library is to re-open in its new home in the village hall this week.
The library has moved to its new site on Broadway following the decision by the landlord to end the lease on its previous home earlier this year.
Ahead of the re-opening, the ground floor of the Village Hall had undergone a refurbishment and includes a new self-service machine, study space, and will offer the full loan service and activities such as rhyme times.
Cllr Anne Brown, Cabinet Member responsible for libraries at Essex County Council, said: “We have been working with local community partners over the last few months to re-locate the library, and I am very pleased that we have been able to do this ahead of the Christmas period.
“The move to the village hall is a great opportunity for the library to develop, it offers a flexible space that can be adapted for a host of different activities and events, which is exactly what we need in a modern library service.”
The library will be open from this Tuesday and will be open Tuesday 2pm-6pm, Thursday 2pm-6pm and Saturday 9am-1pm.
