16 Jul Seaside fun in the heart of Brentwood
The Baytree Shopping Centre, located in the heart of Brentwood is home to a new beach, set to be in place for the whole of the summer.
Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, Councillor Chris Hossack officially opened The Baytree Beach.Using outdoor space to the front of the centre, a large 5m x 6m area has been transformed with tonnes of play sand, filled with buckets and spades and surrounded by deckchairs for parents to relax while watching their children enjoy sandcastle competitions and digging.
Free to attend, the taste of the seaside in the centre of the town is the first time such an event has been staged at The Baytree. Throughout the summer, there will be additional entertainment each Wednesday with Marvin the Monkey and Safari Suzie. Visitors can expect to enjoy party games, a mini disco and safari-themed games. Upcoming events as part of ‘Wild Wednesdays’ are as follows:
21st July – Arts and crafts Get crafty with Suzie and make your own Jungle mask then build the best sandcastle judged by Marvin Monkey. Marvin Monkey will also be joining us for socially distanced pictures.
28th July – Mini Disco. Complete with party dances as well as a dance competition! Follow Marvin Monkeys dance routines, Safari Suzie top disco tips along with jungle & safari music. Times – 10am, 11.30am, 2pm & 3.30pm.
4th August –Biscuit Decorating & Buried Treasure. Alongside biscuit decorating & digging for the buried treasure in the sandpit, learn with Safari Suzie fun facts complete with bug and animal demonstration then ending with safari story time! Times: 10am, 11.30am, 2pm & 3.30pm.
11th August – Sports Day. With Judge Marvin Monkey on hand, come take part in our Sports day with all different sports day activities to win medals and prizes! With mini award ceremony at the end. Times: 10am, 11.30am, 2pm & 3.30pm.
18th August – Party Show. We’re talking a Jungle theme party dances, safari themed games with prizes, mini show performance with both characters throughout the day. Times: 10am, 11.30am, 2pm & 3.30pm.
