School Disco release second single from upcoming record, “Through Dimensions”

22 Aug School Disco release second single from upcoming record, “Through Dimensions”

Having supported the likes of Wolf Alice, Froth, Lime Garden and Frankie and the Witch Fingers, School Disco are back with a brand-spanking new release ready to rock for the ages. Previously receiving support from BBC introducing, CLUNK Magazine, Spotify and Amazing radio, the bands upwards trajectory is unstoppable, and their upcoming releases are only set to propel them further into indie rock fame.

School Disco are Rory Lethbridge (Guitar / Vocals), Elliot Standford (Guitar / Vocals / Keys), Laur Underwood (Bass), Harry Heyes (Drums) and Tim Girdler (Studio Bass).

Formed in 2016 in Brighton via Plymouth, the band take influence from the likes of Black Sabbath and CAN, while taking inspiration from sci-fi literature and HP Lovecraft alike.

Adding to their already colourful and brazen discography, School Disco have announced the release of their upcoming single ‘Through Dimensions’. The track comes at the perfect time, noting on missiles and planetary destruction that takes advantage of the current success of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

Talking on the track, Rory notes: “’Through Dimensions’ is the first song that came out of the “Denton Rock” writing process and is the only song I wrote myself. It’s about a really vivid dream I kept having about interplanetary rockets that can go through different worm holes. I think the reference to missiles in the lyrics is a subtle nod to the fact man has created weapons that can literally wipe the entire planet out in seconds and how normalized this has become. Nuclear paranoia is still here but extremely mild.”

‘Through Dimension’ arrives after the success of their previous single ‘Feelings Coming’ which was picked up by BBC introducing, Radio 6 and Radio Reverb – just to name a few.

In a narrative that could’ve been penned by Rick and Morty’s creators, School Disco’s brand-new track is a swirling array of creativity and imagination that travels through waves of punchy guitar lines and commanding percussion. With vocals that hark back to those utilised by Ian Curtis of Joy Division fame, the haunting nature of the cleverly concocted soundscape make for a thrilling, psychedelia-infused, punk-rock whirlwind.

The short but sweet two-and-a-half-minute cut, ‘Through Dimensions’, is the sophomore track to be released from their upcoming record ‘Denton Rock’.

”’Denton Rock’ is an album I’m super proud of, with a whole new line-up we really got into a groove playing new songs and reimagining old ones live. We booked out a studio in Manchester that our friends have and we managed to get down 90% of the album in 3 days. We all really hit a groove and it was such a fun creative process with everyone down to get experimental and use the studios as a big playground. Some songs we had mastered before the studio, and some songs we finished in the studio by playing around and jamming in a similar fashion to what we do live.

I also reached out to a few friends and guests that really elevate the album with their contributions – Eva Lunny on harp adds such depth and Brennan Harvey’s Alto Sax on Crying Beasts adds more for me than any guitar would. I feel we really took the DIY aesthetic that our first two albums have and elevated it further” – Rory

‘Denton Rock’ is out September 15th and is available to pre-order via BandCamp and Copper Feast Records’ Webstore. The album will be released digitally, on vinyl & on CD via Copper Feast Records and Krautpop! Records.
