16 Aug Roding Valley High School students celebrate securing places at top universities
Year 13 students from Roding Valley High School in Loughton celebrated receiving their A Level results, with students going to study at prestigious universities such as King’s College London, Queen Mary’s and Newcastle University.
The vast majority of students will be studying at their first-choice university to read a variety of subjects from Biomedical Science to Engineering and Media. A large number of the cohort will be going to study at Russell Group universities.
Sharon Jenner, Headteacher, Roding Valley High School, said: “We are absolutely delighted with all of the students receiving their results today. I would like to thank all of the teachers and the parents for supporting the students through this time. It is wonderful for us to see our students mature into the adults that they are and go off to achieve their dreams. I am proud that we have support all our students to achieve their potential. We look forward to taking on our firth cohort to our established, growing sixth form and to continue to build on the success of all our students.”
High flying student, Igor, celebrated his results of A*, A*, A, A in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics.
Jasmin and Lilly secured places at King’s College London and will be studying Pharmacy and Biomedical Science respectively. Jasmin achieved three B’s in Biology, Business and Chemistry and Lilly A*, A and a B in Biology, Geography and Chemistry.
Also going to study Biomedical Science, Emily, secured a place at Newcastle University after securing an A in Geography, an A in Biology, and a C in Chemistry.
George and Celeste will both be going to study Engineering at Queen Mary’s and the University of East London respectively. Commenting on the results, Celeste said: “I did better than thought I would and now get to go to study engineering at my first-choice university, it’s a dream come true!”
Students also celebrated securing places at other post-18 options, with a number going to study higher level apprenticeships or sponsored degree programmes. Sophie, who achieved a B in Media, a B in Geography and a C in Business will be studying a higher-level apprenticeship with Schroders, the global investment firm.
Ellie and Matt will be undertaking a sponsored degree programme with construction company, Hill. To secure their places, Ellie studied Economics, Religious Studies and Politics and Matt studied Biology, Economics and Geography.
Head Boy, Harry, is going on to be a Tax Assistant with BDO London through the company’s higher-level apprenticeship scheme; he studied Business, Geography and Politics at the school.
Eliza achieved a B in Business, a B in History and C in Psychology and will be going on to study a higher-level apprenticeship scheme with Aon.
Anjuli Wheaton, Head of Sixth Form, Roding Valley High School, said: “I am exceptionally proud of year 13 today, it is a privilege to have worked with such a talented group of young people in my first year at Roding Valley High School. I want to share my best wishes with every student in their future endeavours.”
