22 Aug RIHANNA AND JUSTIN #BIEBER SMASH 21st BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT #VFESTIVAL
Global chart royalty graced V Festival 2016, sponsored by Virgin Media, this weekend as Justin Bieber and Rihanna dominated the headline slots across the festival weekend. This year was V Festival’s 21st birthday, with celebrations taking place at the two sites in Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire. To top it all off, presale tickets for next year’s festival have been announced. From Friday 26 August at 9am, tickets will be available for a limited time matching last year’s presale price, with a £42 discount off the full price weekend ticket.
175,000 festival-goers were treated to the hottest pop lineup of the summer with over 100 artists across six stages. Headline performances from superstars Justin Bieber and Rihanna wowed crowds with unmissable performances and production, whilst Australian superstar songstress, Sia, impressed with her soaring vocals and stage presence.
In addition to the scheduled line up, and to the delight of V Festival fans, many artists brought surprise guests to perform with them on stage. Craig David was kept busy by performing with Sigala, Little Mix and Lethal Bizzle on top of his own headline TS5 performance at the Dance Arena.
MNEK surprised crowds by coming back on stage with Zara Larsson to blast their smash hit single, ‘Never Forget You’. Global superstar DJ, David Guetta, got the party started and even brought out Bebe Rexha to sing on their hit anthem ‘Hey Mama’.
This year also introduced a number of additions to celebrate the anniversary; BBC Radio 1 hosted a new Summer of Dance stage, bringing chart topping dance anthems from Gorgon City to Eric Prydz to the Friday night crowd.
Amongst the strong sold out crowd in Chelmsford were a host of VIP attendees, including Millie Mackintosh, Hugo Taylor, Marvin & Rochelle Humes, Aston Merrygold, Mollie King, Laura Whitmore, Daisy Lowe, Dougie Poynter, Oliver Cheshire, Lauren Pope, Dionne Bromfield, Mark Wright and Ferne McCann.
