Relive Frank Sinatra’s golden age at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre

09 Jan Relive Frank Sinatra’s golden age at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre

The only U.K. Sinatra production to be recommended by the Sinatra family’s Europe representative will be at the Civic Theatre Chelmsford on Sunday 3 February 2019, for a special matinee performance. Previously a sell-out at several UK theatres, Sinatra, Sequins & Swing: The Capitol Years Live! is a joyous celebration of some of the most iconic music and Hollywood glamour of the 1950s and stars two of the UK’s most talented Swing vocalists, accompanied by the Capitol Orchestra.

The show focuses on bringing to life Sinatra’s famed period at Capitol Records from 1953-61 (voted fans’ favourite in recent poll in Perfectly Frank magazine) and its legendary songs, most notably those arranged by the superstar arrangers, Nelson Riddle and Billy May. ‘Sinatra, Sequins & Swing’, also recreates famous scenes from Sinatra’s TV and film appearances during that time like the ‘One For My Baby’ bar scene; the ‘Lady Is A Tramp’ nightclub scene from ‘Pal Joey’; ‘You’re Sensational’ from ‘High Society’ with Grace Kelly. Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend’ moment from ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ is a highlight as are timeless classics by Sinatra’s Capitol Records stablemates Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby Darin.

The quality and charisma of the two vocal stars – critically acclaimed vocalist Kevin Fitzsimmons (the voice of Sinatra in TV advert with Hollywood film-star Naomi Watts, ITV’s Loose Women, E4 Made In Chelsea) and retro pin-up/vocalist Kitty La Roar (appearing soon in new spy film Blackbird) – has consistently mesmerised audiences worldwide. Similarly, the impact of the Capitol Orchestra, featuring soloists from Ronnie Scott’s Big Band/BBC Big Band, hypnotises both newcomers and even most avid fans of the era.

The Sinatra family’s Europe representative and president of the Sinatra Music Society, Ken Barnes, in review for Perfectly Frank Magazine said: “Be sure to see it. You won’t find a better evening’s entertainment anywhere.”

Sinatra, Sequins & Swing: The Capitol Years Live! will be on at the Civic Theatre, Chelmsford on Sunday 3 February at 3.00pm. Tickets are available from the box office on 01245 606505 or online at:
