09 Dec Record high for Colchester firm in Top 150 rankings
Colchester property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood has achieved its highest-ever ranking in Building Magazine’s industry-leading Top 150 league table after climbing almost 30 positions in just three years.
The practice is in 44th position in the overall Top 150 Consultants rankings for 2021 – a rise from 73rd in 2018 and up five places from the last table in 2019.
Businesses were assessed on staff resources, qualifications, recruitment, revenue, areas of work, the number of Chartered and technical staff, as well as their UK and global fee incomes.
Ingleton Wood also scaled the rankings in all three subcategories: surveyors (up nine places to 41st), engineers (up seven places to 32nd) and architects (up two places to 40th).
David Cresswell, managing partner at Ingleton Wood, said: “We are thrilled with our new rankings. They show the Practice is continuing to strengthen and grow across all areas – geographically, sectors and services – and that we’re heading in the right direction.
“It also demonstrates what we already know – that we have got great teams. Our long-term investment and ‘People First’ strategy have developed a strong and resilient practice. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone within our organisation for their hard work and commitment.
“Our people are at the forefront of everything we do and it is therefore right that we invest in their wellbeing, expertise and skills. We have just appointed a Learning and Development specialist to bolster our HR team and design development and training plans for all our staff.”
The sector continues to feel the impacts of Brexit, Covid, rising construction costs and raw materials shortages “but the eternal hope is that it’ll right itself”, Mr Cresswell said.
“The market is still quite buoyant and we are enjoying high levels of repeat business supplemented by some exciting new instruction with sustainability being a central theme,” he added.
“Environmentally, our team has a big role to play. Our responsibility is to advise and guide our clients to invest in environmentally sensitive buildings. We must be passionate about the climate challenge and the impact of carbon – both in use and embodied within materials.
“We will continue to advise our clients in the right way to ensure they are building greener, environmentally-friendly and high-quality buildings that use less energy, have lower carbon footprints and benefit from reduced operational costs.”
