13 Aug Ready, steady, get nominating for Active Basildon Sports Awards
Do you know an individual, club or team who make an invaluable contribution to sport and physical activity in the borough?
Nominations are open for this year’s Active Basildon Sports Awards, which celebrate talent, commitment and determination. It is an opportunity to honour accomplished sports people, unsung heroes who give up their time to support sporting talent and dedicated volunteers who inspire their local community to be more active.
Chairman of Basildon Council’s Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee Cllr David Harrison, said: “This is a great opportunity to recognise those who have made a big contribution to or through sport, so please let us know who you think is a deserving winner.
“We have some talented sports people in the borough and want to celebrate and reward their success while inspiring the next generation of sports superstars to reach their full potential.”
The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at Reids, in Laindon Road, Billericay on Thursday 14 November. They will also all be put forward for the prestigious countywide sports awards.
There are 11 categories, which are open to nominations until Wednesday 9 October.
They are:

•Community Club of the Year
•Education Champion of the Year

•Sports Personality of the Year
•Unsung Hero
•Young Sports Personality of the Year
