30 Apr PRUDENCE releases new single & video for ‘Heart Sways’
Prudence is the recording project of Australian musician and multi-instrumentalist Tom Crandles, known previously for his work as one half of Au.Ra. and is also DMA’S touring bassist.
Following it’s premiere earlier this week on FBi Radio, Prudence today shares his new single and video.
‘Heart Sways’ is a lush, spacious pop song that explores the push/pull dynamic in matters of impulsivity. Mixed and engineered by Lachlan Mitchell and mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri, ‘Heart Sways’ is the first Prudence release to be recorded in a studio with the full band.
The sublime accompanying video clip was was shot, edited and directed by photographer McLean Stephenson
Prudence began to take shape initially as a fresh song-writing project, self-recorded in prized moments of solitude across hotel rooms in Europe whilst on the frenetic touring schedules of other bands. Now, back home in Sydney and with pianist Aleesha Dibbs (Divebell, Lorelei), bassist Kat Harley (The Laurels, Mezko) and drummer Steve West (Obscura Hail) joining the fold, Prudence has evolved from a bedroom recording project into a fully realised band.
2019 saw the release of Prudence’s debut EP ‘Major Tom’ on US label Forged Artifacts. The 6 track offering allowed an insight into Tom’s idiosyncratic vision of the world – one that feels electric yet effortless – charting the full scale of human impulses; desire, ache, uncertainty and yearning.
With musical influences that range from Anna Domino to Swans, Mick Karn to Anita Lane, DEVO and Talk Talk, Prudence’s output seamlessly blurs the line between effortless and meticulous – a natural disaster of melody and noise.
