Popular Thurrock based TipToe Stage School have a remarkable summer

04 Sep Popular Thurrock based TipToe Stage School have a remarkable summer

We may be nearing the end of the summer holidays, but the past three months have been anything but slow for the popular Thurrock based TipToe Stage School.

The organisation, who has branches in Ockendon and Romford, have seen pupils in the school take part in local and national events with performers representing the borough.

Just this weekend the school appeared at the Orsett Show, with two of the pupils, Grace Brazier and Megan Bristow also reaching the finals of Orsetts’ Got Talent.  This follows the recent appearance at the Havering “Wing’s and Wheel’s” festival and the Basildon and Pitsea Carnival.

Other professional engagements include pupils being invited for auditions for major TV commercials and also for a popular BBC science fiction programme.

August also saw the worldwide release of the Disney film, Christopher Robin, which featured pupils Eliot Carter and Abigael Cathro.

And fitted in the middle of all of this was the TipToe summer school, which saw pupils of all ages coming together in a week’s worth of daily workshops culminating in a public performance and award ceremony at the end of the week.

Finally, just this weekend the school received the news that three of it’s members; Danni – Leigh Tranter (14), Grace Brazier (11) and Rhianna Holgate (12) have all been successful in their auditions for the popular “Essex Factor” competition which will run over the next few months.

Now classes have returned to normal, planning is now underway for the schools annual main show, which is taking place in October 2019 at the Towngate Theatre in Basildon.

But that is a long way off yet!

Before then there is the small matter of appearing at the nationwide Dance Stars award ceremony, where the school has been shortlisted in no less than six categories (including Best Dance School) and also the newly established “Dance for All” international campaign which sees a handful of prolific schools from around the UK highlighting their innovative and fully inclusive approach to providing tuition and performance opportunities for pupils with challenging backgrounds. This campaign is the brainchild of Jane Franklyn, ex TipToe student and fellow dance school owner, who is an ambassador for the SNAP charity.

Woven into all of this is the small matter of examinations and competitions and festivals, which run throughout the year.

Commenting, the school’s Principal, Julie Barker said: ”It’s fair to say that all the teaching team, along with the pupils, needed their summer break! But after being away, we are all raring to go and get stuck back in!

“We are now about to enter our 33rd year and it is humbling to see the interest in TipToe growing even more. We are always introducing new classes due to demand, so if anyone wishes to join us, please feel free to get in touch to discuss your requirements.

“TipToe is all about inclusion – and making sure you are being taught in a fun, trusted and relaxed environment but always with a focus on discipline and respect. You can be assured that all of our teachers are DBS checked and approved and all fully qualified – which is important when parents and pupils are coming to you to learn.

“There are some great schools about, so to choose TipToe is really appreciated – thank you”.

The school offers classes in all genre of the performing arts, with specific pre-school, boys only and Adult Tap and Street classes.
