08 Nov Poppies will light up Colchester’s iconic Castle ahead of Armistice Day
Poppies will light up Colchester’s iconic Castle as an act of remembrance over three nights this week.
From dusk until 9pm during the evenings of the 9th and 10th November, and until 8pm on 11 November, the front of the Castle will be turned into an animated memorial, lit up with a vivid display that will also feature more than 1,200 names of the fallen from Colchester.
The area directly in front of the Castle, inside Castle Park, will remain open for the public to view the poignant display at close quarters.
The projection is part of a series of events by Colchester Borough Council to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1 and has been designed and created by local independent arts collective Buffalo Tank in association with Colchester Events Company.
Four large poppies already feature prominently on the Town Hall in tribute to the victims of war.
