16 Aug @EssexPoliceUK Police officers commended
Police officers from across West Essex have been recognised for their hard work, dedication and commitment into a complex burglary investigation.
Nineteen officers were commended for their role in the investigation that led to imprisonment of three men in June, 2016.
During the investigation, detectives from Grays CID worked around the clock to establish that the group was responsible for committing burglaries in Essex, Hertfordshire and Metropolitan areas of London.
The key moment came when officers executed a warrant at the men’s address and recovered a number of items, including jewellery and electronic equipment, belonging to victims of burglary.
It is thought that the value of the property stolen during the burglaries totalled £150,000. Many of these items have now been reunited with their rightful owners after officers appealed for information on social media.
The men, all from Caledon Road, London were sentenced at the Basildon Crown Court on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.
Ioan Rus, aged 29, was sentenced to five years for conspiring to commit burglary and fraud.
Ovidiu Radu, aged 24, was sentenced to five years for conspiring to commit burglary and fraud.
Elvis Mihalia, aged 31, was sentenced to eighteen months for handling stolen goods.
Rus and Radu had each admitted a charge of conspiring to commit burglary and fraud at a previous hearing along with Mihalia who admitted a charge of handling stolen goods.
The burglaries all took place between March 2015 and January this year.
