28 Nov Over 10,000 people are expected to flock to Colchester’s annual Christmas Market
Over 10,000 people are expected to flock to Colchester High Street on Sunday 9th December for the town’s annual Christmas Market.
Shoppers will be able to browse and shop from almost 100 traders whose stalls offering fashion, toys, festive gifts, jewellery, art and crafts will span the length of the High Street, which will be closed to traffic throughout the event from 10 am to 5pm.
Organised with support from Food & Drink Festivals UK, there will be street food aplenty with over 25 food stalls offering everything from gourmet Yorkshire puddings to Caribbean fusion food and burritos.
Children can enjoy a fun-packed visit with classic funfair rides, including roundabouts and a Hall of Mirrors, arts & crafts and story-telling from ‘Footprints Street Theatre’. Raising funds for Autism Anglia, the Essex Community Knitters will be hosting the popular Christmas stall presenting an array of knitted gifts including clothes, scarves, gloves and dolls. Visitors can also support Help for Heroes – look out for their mascot Bear amongst the crowds.
Music lovers will be entertained throughout the day with live performances from local singers and musicians including the Colchester Community Choir and, for the first year, Colne Radio will be broadcasting their live radio show direct from the market.
