Outdoor TV vs Weatherproof TVs – What’s the best?

19 Aug Outdoor TV vs Weatherproof TVs – What’s the best?

The sun’s been shining in the UK this summer and we’ve all been craving a little more time outdoors. But what if you want to enjoy some TV whilst also spending some time in the sunshine? Outdoor and weatherproof TVs have been cropping up in UK markets recently and it’s taken the internet by storm, but what’s the difference between them? If you’re struggling to tell what’s the best 43-inch TV between an outdoor TV or a weatherproof TV, read on.

What’s an outdoor TV?

An outdoor TV is precisely what it sounds like, it’s a TV that’s designed for outdoor use. They’re made to handle ultra-bright and direct light from the sun and are exceptionally brighter than standard TVs. Typically, however, outdoor TVs are used under some sort of outdoor canopy, as they’re not built to stay outdoors amongst the elements.

Due to the highly limited market on outdoor TVs right now, most ‘outdoor’ TVs discussed aren’t designed to be used outside, and any damage caused to them will not be covered by your TV’s warranty. If you want to use your TV outdoors, we’d definitely recommend using a waterproof outdoor cover or a proper outdoor cabinet to prevent any moisture build-up.

What’s a weatherproof TV?

A weatherproof TV is incredibly similar to an outdoor TV, they’re bright, they’ve got built-in anti-glare, and they’ve got great picture quality. The primary difference between weatherproof TVs and outdoor TVs is the amount of weather resistance they truly have. Weatherproof TVs are entirely weather resistant. That means regardless of extreme cold or heat, moisture, dirt or dust, they’ll survive through it all. This means that, unlike outdoor TVs, they’ll be absolutely fine completely exposed to the elements, no questions asked.
