04 Mar Ohara Davies’ 3rd Round TKO enough to seal win
Ohara Davies had the final say in his feud with Derry Mathews after stopping Matthews in the third round of their bout at The O2.
This led to an emotional retirement announcement by Matthews, The emotional 33-year-old called time on his career after 52 contests and a host of titles won at various weights.
The referee Victor Loughlin stepped in to end the fight just before the third round was finished this evening which effectively sealed victory for Davies who received support on social media from scores of celebrities prior to his fight.
Taking to Twitter after the fight Davies his 15,000 strong army of followers “TKO in round 3, thank you Derry Matthews for the opportunity, I respect you so much champ, thanks everyone who came out also #Boxing”
Earlier in the evening Davies had wowed fans at the O2 arena after walking out to the ring to WWE superstar The Undertaker’s entrance music.
Davies had a strong social media presence as Umar Kamani, Pete Wicks, Ferne McCann and various stars to social media to wish him well prior to the fight.
