Nominations for locals sports awards are open

21 Sep Nominations for locals sports awards are open

Do you know an individual, club or team who make an invaluable contribution to sport and physical activity in the borough?

Nominations are open for this year’s Active Basildon Sports Awards, which celebrate talent, commitment and determination. It is an opportunity to honour accomplished sports people, unsung heroes who give up their time to support sporting talent and dedicated volunteers who inspire their local community to be more active.

Cllr Kevin Blake, Chairman of Basildon Council’s Leisure, Culture and Environment Committee, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to recognise those who have made an outstanding contribution to or through sport, so please let us know who you think is a deserving winner.

“We know we have some incredibly talented sports people in the borough. We want to celebrate and reward their success while inspiring the next generation of sports superstars to reach their full potential.”

The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at Reids, in Laindon Road, Billericay on Thursday 15 November. They will also all be put forward for the prestigious countywide sports awards.

There are 11 categories, which are open to nominations until Friday 5 October. They are:

• Active in the Workplace
