New year, new career! Stansted Airport gears up for busy 2022 with major recruitment drive

12 Jan New year, new career! Stansted Airport gears up for busy 2022 with major recruitment drive

London Stansted is creating more than 300 jobs as it gears up for what is expected to be a busy 2022.

Following the news last week that the Government was to remove temporary restrictions on international travel, a major recruitment drive is underway as Stansted continues its recovery from the pandemic and looks ahead to the summer season which begins in late March.

The majority of the vacancies are for security officers, but there are also opportunities available within engineering, customer service and car parking teams.

Those who land roles can also take advantage of benefits including up to 80% off public transport, discounts on airport retail and free holiday parking plus access to dozens of free skills and training programmes.

Job seekers interested in finding out more about all the roles within MAG can visit careers.magairports.com for full details.
A virtual job fair is also being held on 27 January between 10.00-13.00 to not only promote those opportunities with MAG but the hundreds of other jobs available across the airport, including at Jet2.com, Ryanair, Swissport, UK Border Force, Menzies, HMSHost , SSP, DUFRY, Boots and Pret a Manger.

October 2021 was the airport’s busiest month since the beginning of the pandemic, with 1.3 million passengers passing through, an increase of 235 per cent over the previous year, and although the Omicron variant dented consumer confidence for a few weeks, the Government’s announcement is a significant boost for the industry.

The airport is optimistic that if the current system for travel remains in place or restrictions are fully removed, passenger numbers will be closer to what they were before the pandemic during the summer season.

Stansted Airport’s Managing Director, Steve Griffiths, said:
“Last week’s announcement by the government was great news for the airport, the travel industry and our passengers, who will now be able to enjoy more freedom to fly without the extra complexity and costs of testing.
“As the aviation industry once again begins its road to a full recovery, we now have hundreds of fantastic and interesting roles available to suit a wide range of people with different experience, skills and backgrounds.

“We encourage applications from individuals with great people skills, ambition and enthusiasm to come and join our friendly team here at London Stansted. Our colleagues get huge job satisfaction from interacting with customers and helping to give them a great start to their holidays.

“Airports are a great and varied placed to work, and offer excellent potential to develop and grow careers. In fact, many of our current leaders have taken advantage of the numerous opportunities available to progress their careers from within the airport.”
