23 Mar New local initiative aims to make theatres more accessible
A new Essex based initiative dubbed Take the Stage is on a mission to make large theatres accessible to independent performing arts schools. Their maiden event scheduled for July this year is due to be a hit and will be staged at Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion.
The event describes as “An extravaganza of dance and musical theatre, featuring the best of young Essex talent.” Will see over 300 performers, aged 6-18, star in this fantastic celebration of song and dance in July as the best of Essex talent is celebrated.
Event organiser Amy Burrows who herself is an actress and presenter told us “these schools have the creative freedom to create whatever they want to, we will see performances ranging from Jazz right through to musical theatre”
She also added “I passionately believe that children should have the opportunity to get up and perform onstage, in prestigious venues such as The Cliffs, as the discipline, confidence, team work and performance skills you learn in a professional theatre really do stay with you forever.”
“I am absolutely thrilled to be able to offer young local talent the chance to perform; I know first-hand that these experiences create memories, friendships and life skills that really do last forever.”
Tickets are now up for sale for this prestigious event and more information can be found on their Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/takethestageuk/
