16 Jul Musical instruments driving footfall at Clacton-on-Sea charity shop
A Clacton-on-Sea charity shop’s collection of musical instruments is proving a popular attraction this summer.
Customers of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) in North Road have been trying their hand at pianos, keyboards, guitars and ukuleles.
Lisa Probets, EACH Shop Manager, said: “Customers come in to play a tune, kids come after school to play them, they’re quite a feature – it’s been fun!”
The shop only opened in April, but has enjoyed good support in its first three months’ trading.
Lisa explained: “The footfall is slowly increasing. We’ve our regular customers now, both to donate goods and for sales. Recently three customers have signed up to volunteer as they love the buoyant atmosphere and want to be involved raising funds for the cause.
“My youngest volunteer is an eight-year-old girl, who lives in the flats above. She takes home boxes of children’s books and games, checking the games are complete and the books saleable.”
EACH is calling on the community to continue the strong start by donating any good-quality, unwanted furniture.
