26 Feb MPs get their third pay rise since 2015
After a mere two pay rises over the past two years, MPs are set to get a pay increase of £1,049 in April this year its been revealed. This will now take their salaries to £76,011 before ofcourse their expenses.
Meanwhile public sector employees still face a 1% cap on their salaries for the next two years.
PM Theresa May has since addressed the matter saying that this was something for each MP to look into themselves as their pay is set independently.
With this increase being automatic and not requiring Parliamentary Approval its set to raise questions as to how changes to the public sector earnings and those of MPs are regulated.
Ministerial salaries are however thought to be frozen until 2020 and these are controlled by the Government.
