04 Nov More in Common project to bring social cohesion to Basildon
A number of local charities and community groups will be coming together to form a More in Common Basildon committee in support of the Jo Cox Foundation.
More In Common is an initiative that aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation in the borough, whilst driving greater community cohesion.
The Mayor of Basildon, Cllr David Burton-Sampson, said: “I’m delighted to announce that we will be supporting More in Common as part of the Jo Cox foundation this year. We aim to reduce loneliness in the borough, reduce reasons for social isolation, as community cohesion is our primary focus.
“We are in the process of forming an official committee, who will take this work forward. They’ll be driving forward an exciting project that will be funded by the Mayor’s Charitable Trust this year. I believe that this will be a huge success.
“To make this project successful, we need a team of people who can take key roles to form a committee, a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Events Coordinator and a Fundraising Officer. We are also looking for people to fill committee support roles.”
“This will be a fantastic opportunity to get involved and engage with the community to make the borough a more inclusive place.”
