23 Mar Meo Kalorama Annouce First Wave Of Artists

After a memorable first edition in 2022, MEO Kalorama Festival will return this August 31st to September 2nd 2023, to the beautiful Bela Vista Park in Lisbon and an incredible mix of music, art and sustainability.

Today MEO Kalorama announces over 40 new names to the already star-studded bill, including the British icon and ever-mystical Siouxsie from the mythical band The Banshees, the American indie band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be rocking the crowds with their fresh music. Everyone’s favourite mysterious producer Aphex Twin will be taking the stage on his first tour since 2019, alongside the British rap sensation SLOWTHAI who will be bringing his raw lyrics to the festival. The disruptive Venezuelan producer and vocalist Arca will be bringing their ever-creative energy as well as the electronic pop producer Anthony Gonzalez aka M83, who just shared his ninth album ‘Fantasy’.

On a very special performance, the indie folk singer-songwriter José Gonzalez will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album ‘Veneer’, alongside the renowned Scottish indie-pop heroes Belle & Sebastien who will be presenting their new album ‘Late Developers’. The Canadian duo Junior Boys dropped their latest album after a six-year hiatus and are also on the bill, as well as the previously announced headliners Arcade Fire and Florence + The Machine.

In 2023 MEO Kalorama will feature an exciting brand new stage, PANORAMA, a space dedicated exclusively to electronic music with an impressive quadraphonic sound design. The PANORAMA stage will welcome the likes of Ben Ufo, Bundino, Call Super B2B Anz, Phoebe, John Talabot, Gazzi, Denmark, Moxie, Peach, Nicolas Lutz, Tijana T and Violet to name a few.

MEO Kalorama is committed to supporting and giving a platform to local talent this year with some of the most exciting Portuguese artists included in the bill such as Pongo, Scúru Fitxádu, Selma Uamusse and EU.CLIDES.

WE ARE MEO KALORAMA
The films will feature locals and foreigners with expertise in visual arts, ceramics, tattoos, literature and skateboarding and who find inspiration and rhythm to create and share their art in the Portuguese capital.

Inspired by the seven hills of the city, the seven short episodes, available on MEO Kalorama’s social networks in the coming weeks, will tell the stories of professional Portuguese dancer Carlota, Ukrainian tattoo artist Sasha, French ceramist Cécile Mestelan, bookseller and founding partner of the iconic Livraria da Travessa, Rui Campos, skaters and founders of the magazine Betesga Skate Magazine, British painter Helen Butler and Orquestra de Batucadeiras, a project of the Association of Cape-Verdian Woman in Portugal.

The line-up for this second edition of MEO Kalorama reinforces the meticulous curatorship that marked the debut edition of the festival. Proof of that is the recent awards for the Best New Iberian Festival and Best Concert by an International Artist in Portugal (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds) at the Iberian Festival Awards. In this second edition, Last Tour, promoter of MEO Kalorama, consolidates the 3 pillars of the festival, Music, Art and Sustainability, at a time when it has just obtained the prestigious B CORP certification, which attests to its commitment to the community and the planet, in line with UN Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

MEO Kalorama will take place at Bella Vista Park, Lisbon (Portugal) between the 31st of August and 2nd of September 2023. Tickets can be purchased at MEOKALORAMA.pt/en
