The new Miss England is a rocket scientist!
At a glittering event this week at the Holiday Inn NEC, Birmingham Airport, 27 year old Jessica Gagan from Skelmersdale, Lancashire beat 30 other amazing contestants to win the prestigious title of Miss England and to go through to the Miss World Finals.
Jessica also won the Dentakay sponsored Brightest Smile contest round. Runner up was Milly Everatt, aged 22, a farmer and HGV Driver from North Lincolnshire and Emily Cossey a Chemical Engineer Graduate was third.
Jessica is studying for a masters degree in aerospace engineering and says “I have dreams of becoming an astronaut one day! I’m passionate about showcasing opportunities in STEM careers to girls and did so last year by running 5k for 96 days consecutively in Fancy Dress as part of my Beauty with a PURPOSE fundraising for Miss England”
Jessica has entered Miss England before.
She commented, “Everything in my life happens the 2nd time around – I passed my driving test 2nd time, my model agency turned me away the first time, then signed me on my 2nd approach, and I was encouraged to enter Miss England again after coming 2nd last year”.
