06 Dec Meet the Clacton teenager kayaking for his heroes
A teenager is to embark on a unique challenge during the festive period to raise funds for a military charity.
Tyler St George, 22, from Clacton, will kayak from Clacton to Walton Piers, before hiking back to the former, and is aiming to raise £100 for Help for Heroes in the process.
He expects to complete the challenge in three days, and said he was inspired into the water based adventure by his own personal experiences, and the exploits of those in the Armed Forces.
Tyler said: “I want to carry out tasks that will help our brave men and women in the military, they deserve the care and support that they receive.
“I started my 14-weeks basic training in the Army before unfortunately being medically discharged, and I am determined to do my bit and help those who are worse off.”
The 22-year-old suffers from Autism and ADHD, but he described his condition as a small blip in his life and encouraged those with similar symptoms to try different experiences.
Tyler will set off from Clacton Pier on Saturday, December 30, and hopes to arrive back in the town either on New Year’s Day, or on Tuesday, January 2.
He hopes that other Autistic sufferers will be inspired by his adventure, and said there was no reason why “impossible dreams” couldn’t be achieved
