Alight at Embankment Pier to discover London Transport Museum’s Festival of Curiosity, telling the story of the world’s most historic transport system. Let the imagination roam by following a STEAM-inspired family trail around the museum. Work together to solve problems while learning about the heroic engineers who have kept London moving for the past 200 years. During fun daily workshops at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00, learn hands-on about the forces propelling London’s transport system, or be a train driver for the day by driving the museum’s Elizabeth Line simulator. All family activities are free with Museum admission, while kids go free. While you’re there, be sure to visit the All Aboard playzone to pilot your very own ‘Thames Nipper’ boat!

Disembark at select piers to see London in bloom at Chelsea Fringe, a free event returning for its twelfth edition from 20 – 28 May. Learn about botanical printing, join wildflower workshops, follow gorgeous garden trails and have fun at a garden party. This alternative garden festival has become a staple of the horticultural calendar, and runs at the same time as the world-famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show (23 – 27 May – Cadogan or Battersea Power Station piers), the floral extravaganza showcasing the best gardeners and garden designs in the world. A real highlight this year is the Royal Tribute Garden, exclusively created to honour King Charles III’s inaugural visit to the show as reigning monarch.

Get off at Royal Wharf Pier to enjoy the final weeks of the Thin Air exhibition at The Beams, London. This spectacular immersive art installation pushes the boundaries of art, light, sound, and space. 55,000 square feet of The Beams’ space has been transformed by international artists using digital technology and large-scale installations, blurring the lines between art and technology in a feast for the senses. Experience this unmissable and innovative use of light, sound and technology until 4 June.

Kids go free with a Family River Roamer ticket (£42.40 when bought online), allowing families to hop on and off the service all day long in London.

All boats have step-free access, toilet and baby changing facilities, a café bar selling drinks and snacks, and offer comfortable, spacious journeys, making it the most relaxing yet exciting way to travel across London.

An All Zones Family River Roamer costs £42.40 and is valid for 2 adults and up to 3 children aged 5-15 years (kids 4 and under travel for free as standard). A Family River Roamer ticket can be purchased online, on the Thames Clippers Tickets or Uber apps, and at the piers.
