Local NHS joins forces with local authority to implement new national mental health campaign

08 Oct Local NHS joins forces with local authority to implement new national mental health campaign

Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and local councils have joined forces under the in the Livewell Essex banner to support a national mental wellbeing campaign.

Public Health England (PHE) are today launching the first ever national NHS mental health campaign, called Every Mind Matters. This campaign is being implemented across the country by local authorities and local health services.
The new Every Mind Matters campaign encourages adults to be more aware of their mental health and helps them to discover simple steps to look after their mental health and wellbeing.

Every Mind Matters offers a range of useful resources that help people spot the signs of common mental health concerns. The campaign offers practical self-care tips and guidance and, importantly, explains when to seek further support.

It also has a free NHS-approved online tool on the Every Mind Matters website, which helps people build a personal action plan to support them in dealing with stress and anxiety, boost their mood, improve their sleep and help them to feel more in control.

Dr Caroline Dollery, Mid Essex CCG’s mental health clinical lead, said: “We all have times when life gets on top of us, so it’s great to see a national campaign sharing simple steps that we can all take to look after our mental health.”

“Ahead of Mental Health Awareness Day on Thursday 10th October, we want everyone to know there’s no need to wait until they’re struggling with their mental health. There are lots of things they can do to protect themselves and prevent problems escalating, just as we do with our physical health.”

A spokesperson for the Livewell campaign in Essex said: We want to encourage everyone in Essex to look after their mental health. Taking proactive steps like increasing physical activity, connecting with others and sleeping well can help with your wellbeing and we aim to raise awareness about how individuals can improve both their physical and mental health in seven simple steps, as part of this important campaign.

To learn more about how to look after your mental health and create your own action plan, visit the Livewell website. There is information on the CCG’s website, too. And the CCG is also backing the campaign by promoting the mental health support available locally that can help with common conditions including anxiety, stress and depression.

Keep an eye for our “ad walkers”, out in force in towns across mid Essex during the campaign, too. If you see them, make you sure you take a photo and tweet us @MidEssexCCG.
