22 Dec LOCAL HOUSEBUILDER HELPS TACKLE HOMELESSNESS WITH STREETS2HOMES CHARITY THIS CHRISTMAS
This Christmas, local housebuilder David Wilson Homes is supporting Harlow-based Streets2Homes in a bid to tackle homelessness over the festive period. The housebuilder, who is behind the Sawbridge Park development on West Road in Sawbridgeworth, has donated £1000 to the charity from its Christmas Community Fund.
The donation will be used to support the charity’s day-to-day running over the festive period and into the new year, where they often see a spike in demand for those in need. According to Shelter, more than 274,000 people are homeless in England right now, including 126,000 children.
Streets2Homes provides a day centre which seeks to reach out to and help homeless people, providing a safe and friendly environment for those who require support. The day centre provides a place to access housing advice and practical assistance to secure accommodation, alongside offering employment advice, health services and general guidance and support.
Karly Williams, Sales and Marketing Director at David Wilson North Thames, comments: “We know how important it is for everyone to have a safe, warm place to call home. As a responsible housebuilder, we are committed to supporting the local communities in which we build, and we are proud to work with Streets2Homes to help those in and around Harlow who are facing homelessness this Christmas.”
Kerrie Eastman, CEO at Streets2Homes, comments: “Sadly too many people will be facing homelessness this Christmas, and will be depending on charities such as ourselves to provide support. We work closely with a wide range of agencies and organisations to equip people with the tools they need to get off the streets and rebuild their lives. We thank David Wilson North Thames for its support this Christmas.”
David Wilson North Thames is building its Sawbridge Park development in Sawbridgeworth, just two miles from Streets2Homes’ day centre. The development offers a collection of three and four-bedroom family homes, with prices starting from £505,000 for a three-bedroom home.
