22 Nov Local home care company fundraises this Dementia Awareness Day
Local home care company, Home Instead South Woodham Ferrers, recently raised awareness about dementia within the local community by hosting an information stand in the local Town Centre.
Home Instead shared leaflets about dementia and the care available for those living with the disease. They were able to raise £202.74 for Dementia UK, a nationwide charity helping those living with or personally affected by the disease.
Dorothy Nwankwo, owner of Home Instead commented: “Dementia is something that is close to my heart. Many of our elderly clients are living with dementia and we see first-hand how it affects those living with it, their families, and friends. More importantly, it was great to spread awareness about dementia as it is a disease many people misunderstand.
“For those living with the illness, there isn’t only residential care as an option- Home Instead offer specialist dementia care which supports those living with the disease within their own homes, the most familiar space in which they feel safe.”
Susan Garret, registered manager at Home Instead says “It is great to get out and about into the community and meet people after so many months of being unable to, during the pandemic. We are here to totally support our local community and we love getting involved. Please look out for many more events and activities as we move forward!”
