06 Nov Local fundraising group in Help for Heroes donation
A local fundraising group have donated £850 to their local Help for Heroes (H4H) Recovery Centre in Colchester.
92 year old Rosa Pierson from Hutton in Essex, member of volunteer group Forces Friends, sadly passed away in August. She requested that people donate money to the charity instead of flowers.
It’s not the first time that Rosa has been so thoughtful. On her 90th birthday she requested donations to Help for Heroes instead of birthday presents and managed to raise £500.
Her daughter, Christine, aged 67 and also from Hutton, attended Colchester Recovery Centre recently to hand over the cheque. She was accompanied by other members of the group, Doreen Gale, aged 85 from Wickford, and Sue Dowley-Walker, aged 61 from Billericay.
The group have raised £17,000 since 2010 by running events such as Bingo nights and Elvis tribute nights with monies being split between H4H and the Royal British Legion.
