22 Sep Local football team competes in tournament for people who have experienced homelessness
A team from New Direction Salvation Army Lifehouse on Bocking End, Braintree, reached the semi-finals of a special football tournament yesterday (Thursday 21 September) for people who have experienced homelessness.
Staff and residents from New Direction journeyed up to Goals in Manchester to take part in the Partnership Trophy – an annual competition organised by The Salvation Army which sees around 30 teams from across the UK competing for the coveted trophy.
New Direction offers accommodation for people experiencing homelessness as well as personalised and specialist programmes that support people as they take the next step on their journey to independent living.
The Salvation Army organises the annual football tournament to help give residents a boost of confidence by taking part in a competitive sporting event.
