Local event to provide boost for Essex food and drink producers

08 Oct Local event to provide boost for Essex food and drink producers

Essex food and drink producers are invited to a free workshop to help overcome barriers to reaching new customers in wholesale, retail and hospitality on November 4 2019 at Clayhill Vineyard in Latchingdon, near Chelmsford.

The workshop will providing training and advice on the stepping stones to attracting new customers, covering key issues including getting your pricing right, what the retailer wants from a supplier and targeting the right market for your business.

Topics being covered were drawn from feedback at a consultation held last month hosted by Calcott Hall Farm Shop in Brentwood and attended by local food and drink producers.

“Buying local produce becomes ever more popular as the environmentally-friendly choice as well as supporting the local economy and it was recognised by the group that producers need to clarify the provenance of their food and tell their story well,” said Hilary Knight, co-director of Natural Partnerships CIC, commissioned to create a programme of events to support local producers across the SELEP region.

“We will also be developing a Meet the Buyer Event early next year, to help Essex producers showcase their produce to buyers from across the UK.”

The project, which is funded by the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP), with support from Essex Chambers of Commerce, is intended to boost the local rural economy. It is being managed by Natural Partnerships CIC.
