Award-winning developer Countryside has been named a finalist in the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2020, under the category “In-house Planning Team of the Year.”
The RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. Running for over 40 years, they celebrate outstanding examples of planning and contributions thatplanners make to society.
Among the highlights of Countryside’s work, which helped secure its position as a finalist, was the company’s ability to secure, at appeal, outline permission for development at the North Heybridge Garden Suburb in Maldon District (Essex) in October 2019. The decision to appeal was a last resort following refusal of an amended scheme relating to flood alleviation matters. This served as a prime example of Countryside’s ability to successfully work under pressure with key local stakeholders to achieve the highestquality planning solutions.
Other highlights of Countryside’s work which helped to secure its position as a finalist, was the company’s successful planning approach to the regeneration of Acton Gardens in West London. This was praised as an excellent example of how a developer can work closely with the local community. Four full time experts from Countryside remained on-site throughout the planning phase, effectively communicating with the residents that lived in the area. This was key in terms of helping to ensure a sustainable future for the development.
