30 Jun Leading Essex housebuilder invests in East Anglia
Leading housebuilder Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, based in Chelmsford, has built 583 new homes in the region during the past year and has contributed over £88 million to the UK’s economic output.
The achievements are highlighted in a new report which measures the housebuilder’s social and economic contribution to East Anglia over the past financial year (31st June 2020 to 30th June 2021).
During this time, the housebuilder has built properties across its developments in Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
Included within the company’s socio-economic footprint are key figures relating to the company’s support for the housebuilding supply chain, local communities, environment, public services and employment. The figures show that the housebuilder:
Supported 1,316 jobs directly and through its contractors and suppliers.
Supported 211 subcontractor companies and 312 supplier companies.
Created 12 hectares of green space in the area for residents and the public to use.
Contributed over £5.7 million locally including its Community Infrastructure Levy and S106 contributions.
Spent £27.8 million on physical works benefitting local communities including highway and environmental improvements and community facilities.

The report on Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Socio-Economic Footprint in 2021 was carried out by Lichfields planning and development consultancy.
