17 Aug #Lakeside @mharrison13 launches The Other Alice at Waterstones
On Thursday 4 August, the award winning author of the popular Thirteen Treasures series, Michelle Harrison, hosted a launch party for her new novel The Other Alice at intu Lakeside’s Waterstones store where signed copies of the novel are now available to purchase. The family-friendly party included plenty of themed games and activities for everybody to enjoy and over 30 people attended the celebrations.
Aimed at 9-12 year olds, The Other Alice tells the story of Midge, a boy who loves riddles. After a talking cat appears in his room, Midge goes in search of his sister Alice, who has gone missing. Midge begins to search through Alice’s book ‘The Museum of Unfinished Stories’, which is much more than it first appears…Can Midge and his friends find Alice in time?
Originally from Grays, Michelle Harrison began writing at the age of 14 after being inspired by her sisters’ stories from a young age. Later, she decided that she would build a career as a writer and has since written six novels. The first novel from The Thirteen Treasures series won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2009 and has been sold in 17 countries across the world.
Ben Leeson, Marketing Manager at intu Lakeside, says: “We were delighted that Michelle Harrison decided to launch The Other Alice at intu Lakeside’s Waterstones store. The event was very popular with intu Lakeside’s visitors and we have no doubt that the book will be too. Waterstones has lots of exciting activities taking place this summer alongside our own Super Hero summer at the centre so there’s always something for children to do at the centre during the holidays.”
