Sports fans are in for a summer to remember as Lakeside Shopping Centre announces a packed programme of sport, family activities and lakeside fun, all set against the backdrop of its iconic 20-acre lake.
This summer, visitors will be able to soak up the atmosphere at Lakeside’s massive outdoor sports screen, with a line-up of major sporting moments shown throughout the season. Located by the Quay, there will be deck chairs and grass areas available for visitors to recline on, making it the perfect spot to sit back, relax and enjoy the games.
Kicking off the celebrations on Friday 12th June, Lakeside will welcome Ffion Morgan, West Ham United Women player and Wales international, for an exclusive meet and greet and football skills session where Ffion will be bringing top-flight experience, energy and inspiration to Lakeside for one day only. Joining Ffion will be coaches and players from local team Thurrock FC, adding their valuable expertise to the skills sessions.
Perfect for young football fans, the free activity will take place from 4:30pm to 6pm and will give children the chance to learn new skills, pick up footballing tips, enjoy meet and greet moments and snap a selfie with Ffion.
The session is ideal for children aged 9 to 13 years, with no need to book in advance. Visitors can simply head down to Lakeside’s Quay to take part. Plus, visitors wearing a football shirt on the day will have the chance to receive a free ticket to play Immersive Gamebox’s brand-new Football Arcade game, launching that day (walk-ins only, available on a first come, first served basis).
The football fun marks the start of a wider summer of sport at Lakeside, with visitors able to enjoy a packed big-screen schedule across the season, including sporting favourites like Wimbledon.
For those who want to get active themselves, Lakeside is also offering a wide range of watersports throughout the summer, including paddleboarding, kayaking and water zorbing. Taking place on and around the centre’s amazing lake, the activities form part of a non-stop calendar of summer experiences at one of the UK’s most unique retail and leisure destinations.
