28 Nov Kind-hearted local resident has been presented with an MBE
A kind-hearted Woodford Green resident has been presented with an MBE for parliamentary and voluntary service by the Duke of Cambridge.
It was announced in June that Loraine Midda, of Sydney Road, would receive the MBE as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours in recognition of her dedication to her job at the Houses of Parliament and for her support for Haven House Children’s Hospice.
On Thursday 23 November, in an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, the Duke of Cambridge presented Loraine with her MBE as her daughter Gia Nathan, son Harrison Midda, and husband Martin looked on. Loraine was also joined by her sister, Carina Harris, and extended family.
Speaking afterwards Loraine said: “The Duke of Cambridge is such a lovely man and completely put me at ease. I discussed my role and we had a giggle too, he was just so natural. I managed the curtseys with no problem.”
