Kids to Experience Sights and Sounds of the Orchestra at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre

16 Oct Kids to Experience Sights and Sounds of the Orchestra at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre

Children will be filled with a sense of wonder at the sights and sounds of musicians from the City of London Sinfonia as they get treated to a wonderful concert experience designed to engage children with classical music. ‘The Lullaby Concert’ on Saturday 27 October will start this season’s M&G Concerts at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre.

The Lullaby Concert will involve a ‘musical puzzle’, which will feature string, woodwind and brass instrumentalists from the City of London Sinfonia as they explore shapes, puzzles and amazing music, aided by presenter Claire Henry, who will work with the children to solve challenges and celebrate their musical quest. The music performed has been chosen to appeal to children and adults alike. The children will then become musicians themselves at the end of the performance as they try the orchestral instruments themselves, after being inspired by the sounds of the orchestra.

Councillor Julia Jeapes, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Chelmsford City Council, said “This is a wonderful experience for children and adults alike, getting up close and experiencing the sights and sounds of such talented musicians. For many children it will be the first time they have touched a musical instrument and we hope this could lead to a lifetime’s fascination with music.”

The Lullaby Concert is ideal for children aged between two and seven plus their families. The performances will be British sign language interpreted and will start at 10.30am and 2pm.
