Independent Caribbean restaurant Dub Kitchen has become a growing part of Chelmsford’s food
scene since opening its doors on New London Road more than eight months ago, building on the
success of the existing original Southend location.
Located just a minute from Chelmsford High Street, Dub Kitchen is open seven days a week,
serving a daily menu alongside a dedicated lunch menu. Whether customers are looking for a
quick lunch to pick up, a relaxed sit down meal or food to enjoy at home, the restaurant offers dine
in, takeaway and delivery through Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.
At the heart of Dub Kitchen is freshly prepared Caribbean food, with a lot of care and work going
into every dish. The restaurant’s famous jerk chicken is cooked on a jerk pan, while favourites
including curried mutton and Caribbean chicken curry are prepared in house. The menu also
features Dub Kitchen creations including jerk nachos, loaded fries, burritos and wraps.
Owner Wayne has almost 40 years of experience in hospitality and has lived in Chelmsford for
more than 30 years. After establishing a loyal following at the Southend restaurant, he brought
Dub Kitchen to his home city, creating a larger dining experience while keeping the food and
personality that customers know from Southend.
Owner Wayne said:
“Bringing the restaurant to my home city felt like the natural next step. A lot of work goes into
everything we serve, and we really care about giving people good food and a great experience.
We wanted Chelmsford to have somewhere people could come in for a quick lunch, sit down and
enjoy a proper meal or enjoy our food from home. Our music nights have also been a great
addition.
”
Creating a destination
While many people first discovered Dub Kitchen in Southend, the Chelmsford restaurant has
been fully refitted with Caribbean influences throughout, creating a colourful and relaxed setting
for diners. The fully stocked bar serves rum punch, watermelon mojitos and Caribbean beers,
making it just as suited to an evening out as a lunchtime stop.
Dub Kitchen also regularly hosts music events, with soul and reggae DJs playing while customers
enjoy their food and drinks, bringing music and Caribbean inspired atmosphere together under
one roof.
