23 Mar Incredible creations on the catwalk at St Mary’s Fashion Show
Textiles students at St Mary’s Colchester, amazed audiences with their spectacular creations at their Senior School Fashion Show at the end of the Spring Term.
Girls in Years 8 to 11 showed poise and confidence as they modelled garments they had made themselves on the catwalk at the St Mary’s Fashion Show, in response to a variety of design briefs. Audiences of family, friends, former staff and prospective pupils were enormously impressed as Year 8 girls modelled pyjamas they had made, Year 9 wore their culottes, dungarees and skirts, and Year 10 students showcased their designs inspired by books, films and theatre productions such as James Bond, Little Women and Disney films. The Year 11 girls shared their ‘Summer Vibes’ bags as well as their promotional garments for a ‘Great British Occasion’ which included outfits inspired by the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Wimbledon, Remembrance Day and even a dress adorned with LED lights to represent Blackpool Illuminations!
Miss Anwen Jones, Head of St Mary’s Senior School said, “The outstanding examples of practical Textiles work the girls displayed at our annual Fashion Show really demonstrated the talent and skills St Mary’s girls possess. The students’ aptitude in using technical knowledge and creative flair to creative these innovative garments was spectacular. We are extremely proud of the girls’ hard work which was evident as they took to the catwalk.”
