Hundreds visit Barking Riverside for Barking Made Winter Market

08 Dec Hundreds visit Barking Riverside for Barking Made Winter Market

Over 700 people visited Barking Riverside for the first ever Barking Made Winter Market on the 4th and 5th of December 2021 – shopping for locally produced goods and watching the Christmas lights be switched on in Rivergate Square.

Showcasing some of Barking’s best ‘makers’, visitors were given a chance to pick up a whole host of goods, all produced in Barking and Dagenham. Traders included House of Loulee, who make African-inspired apparel and toys. There were also stalls from Empress Juicery, who create healthy juices, and Sleep Goddess, who sells a unique range of handmade vegan sleep products, and JasAnn Organics who make handmade soaps in Barking Riverside. Street food traders offered everything from Mulled Wine and gourmet wraps to handmade pasta.

Across the weekend, various performers took centre stage, including a steel band, playing a mix of festive and Caribbean music, as well as performances from Pullums Dance Academy, choreographed by a Royal Ballet dancer.

The event was a partnership between Barking Riverside Limited, the master developers behind Barking Riverside, and a group of residents who work with Barking Riverside to design events.
