30 Jun Homebuilder helps music festival’s return in Great Dunmow
The popular Great Dunmow Summer Solstice music festival returned for its third edition thanks to the support of local businesses, including housebuilder Bellway.
First held in the summer of 2021 to bring local bands and musicians together, the festival is run on a not-for-profit basis with help from sponsors.
Bellway, which is building at its Sapphire Fields development in the town, contributed £200 towards the cost of running this year’s event, which took place at Great Dunmow Recreation Ground on Saturday 24 June.
Hundreds of people attended the festival, which featured performances from local band Xstatic, Colchester-based Old Skool Band, and Essex-based Bob Collum & The Welfare Mothers. Other performers included the Anglo-Cuban band Swanvesta Social Club, Queen tribute act Flash, and Abba Stars UK.
The proceeds from the event will be donated to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity which supports people across Essex and London whose lives are touched by the illness.

“We were particularly proud to sponsor the festival this year knowing that funds raised by this event will be going to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity to support its vital work.
“Bellway is always looking to make a positive difference in the communities where we build and our support for this much-loved and popular event is an example of that.
Bellway is building 266 new homes at Sapphire Fields, which is located off Stortford Road.
