‘Higher gold’ for Writtle University College foal

15 Sep ‘Higher gold’ for Writtle University College foal

Lordships Timeless (known as Tula) was awarded a ‘Higher Gold’ at the British Breeding Futurity on August 25th 2021. The chestnut filly foal received favourable comments from the judges and an impressive 8.525 score for eventing.

The Futurity is run by British Breeding with the support of Baileys Horse Feeds and aims to identify talented young sport horses and ponies. The judges’ responses provide data on British breeding and feedback for participants.

The event on August 25th was hosted at Writtle University College’s specialist equine campus, in the scenic Essex countryside. Tula, out of Lordships Lollipop and by the stallion Timolin, was bred by the University College’s Lordships Stud. Her success made the event especially memorable for staff and students.

Higher Education Lecturer in Equine, Caroline Farr, said: “Having the British Breeding Futurity on site at Writtle gives our students the opportunity to see a wide range of well-bred competition horses all in one place as well as enabling them to assist with the event and network within the breeding world. Students particularly enjoy the preparation and presentation of our own and livery entries each year and benefit from the hands-on experience.”

“We are always grateful to the Futurity team who encourage students to learn from the vetting team, nutritionists and evaluators each year.”

“We are proud of the results our young horses receive, such as Tula this year gaining a Higher Gold award, our students research and recommend breeding options for our mares each year so it is exciting to see the results as they come to fruition.”
