Have your say on how Basildon Council’s High Street and Town Centres clean-up fund is used

10 Sep Have your say on how Basildon Council’s High Street and Town Centres clean-up fund is used

Residents are being asked to submit their ideas to win funding to clean up their high streets from Basildon Council’s High Street and Town Centres clean-up fund.

The £30,000 fund comes hot on the heels of the council’s new “We’re Cleaning Up flytipping and littering campaign which launched last month. The fund is to help community groups and volunteers set up initiatives to clean up their town centres and high streets.

The community fund gives people the opportunity to bid with ideas of how activities can support the work the council is already doing to keep high streets and town centres clean.

Chairman of the Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee Cllr David Harrison said: “Our town centres and high streets are the hubs of our towns and it is of utmost importance that they are kept clean and tidy. We’re cleaning up and we want your ideas of how you want to help us with that.

“This fund is to help give people the power to go the extra mile and apply for funding to assist the council in our efforts. We already work with a number of active community groups who show real pride in their neighbourhoods and if you have an idea to clean up your high street or neighbourhood shopping area we would like to hear from you.”

The community fund has been made available by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
